Messaging

Sending a campaign

The four-step composer: audience, message, sender and schedule, then review and submit.

Open Messaging › Sends. The composer guides you through four saved steps. You can leave at any step; your draft appears under Saved drafts so you can resume later.

Step 1: audience and channel#

  1. Give the send a clear name, for example "Thank-you after Nakuru rally".
  2. Choose the campaign and a saved audience. Need a different one? Create it in Messaging › Audiences.
  3. Choose the channel: SMS, email, Telegram or voice broadcast (WhatsApp only where enabled).
  4. Optionally launch a survey with this send (SMS only).

Reach is recalculated before release, so people who opt out in the meantime are always excluded.

Step 2: message#

  1. Choose an approved template. Each merge field needs a fallback for people missing that value.
  2. Optionally add a private attachment: an image, video, PDF or audio file. It is scanned for malware and encrypted; the provider receives only a time-limited link.
  3. Optionally shorten public links and count clicks. Each recipient gets a private code; Sauti does not keep their IP address.
  4. Optionally set up an A/B split. See Scheduling, recurring sends and A/B tests.

Step 3: sender and schedule#

  1. Choose the sender (sender ID, verified email address, bot or voice account) and the routing profile.
  2. Choose promotional or transactional.
  3. Leave the schedule blank to start as soon as approvals and quiet-hours checks allow, or pick a date and time (Nairobi time).
  4. Decide what happens if the send reaches quiet hours: defer until sending is allowed, or skip the remaining recipients.
  5. If you have urgent-send permission, you can choose priority dispatch for genuinely urgent messages. Every safety check still applies.

Step 4: review and submit#

The review shows:

  • Reachable and excluded counts, and why people were excluded;
  • estimated cost, your wallet balance and the projected balance;
  • whether approval is needed;
  • the content screen result and the mandatory footer;
  • how many recipients fall in quiet hours or may hit frequency caps;
  • the language plan (each person gets their preferred language, then the campaign fallback);
  • five masked previews with character and part counts.

Use Send a test to yourself to receive the message on your own registered phone first. Then choose Submit send for release.

After submitting#

  • If approval is needed, the send waits in Messaging › Approvals for a different authorised person. See Approvals and content screening.
  • Otherwise it is released, the cost is reserved and dispatch starts.
  • Follow progress from the send's View progress link or the dashboard's live pulse, and results in View report.

Note: Suppression, consent, content screening, approval, quiet hours and frequency caps are checked again when the send actually runs, not just when you submit it.
