Election day

Incidents, turnout and allowances

Triage incidents, remind supporters where turnout is low and pay agents fairly.

Incidents#

Open Election day › Incidents. Reports arrive in real time from verified stations, through the app or SMS.

  1. Open a report to see its station, category, severity, description and photo status.
  2. Review and redact the photo for personal data before it is shared.
  3. Set the status (in triage or resolved), assign a coordinator and record the resolution.

Critical reports notify campaign coordinators by SMS. Coordinators can also file a new station report themselves.

Turnout reminders#

Where your agents report low turnout, you can remind your supporters registered at those stations to vote.

  1. See stations with low reported turnout (station reports only, never individual scores).
  2. Pick a threshold and the stations.
  3. Send a normal message to supporters at those stations. It follows the usual approval, opt-out and wallet rules, and the law in force on election day.

Agent allowances#

Pay agents fairly and only for work done.

  • Allowances are paid by M-PESA only after a verified check-in and submitted results. You can configure which conditions apply.
  • Exceptions (for example an agent who checked in but whose phone failed before results) go through a two-person approval.
  • No agent is ever paid twice for the same day.

Paid allowances appear in Payouts and expenditure and in each volunteer's payout history.
