Sender IDs and shortcodes

Request a sender ID, see which networks approved it and use shared shortcode keywords.

Open Messaging › Senders to see your sender identities, which networks approved each one, and which routes use it.

Requesting a sender ID#

  1. Choose Request sender.
  2. Enter the sender ID you want (up to 11 letters and numbers, for example JOHNDOE2027) and the networks.
  3. Submit it for compliance review.

The Sauti team reviews the request and registers it with each network for its approved purpose. Approval can take several days, so request early. Each network approves separately, and the page shows the status per network.

Note: Use the sender only for the purpose it was approved for. Networks can suspend sender IDs used for unapproved content.

Shared shortcodes and keywords#

Your organisation may be allocated a keyword on a shared shortcode, so people can text your keyword to the shortcode to reach your campaign. Keywords are unique per shortcode across all organisations, and the Sauti team manages allocations.

Default sender#

Set a default SMS sender in Settings › Organization so the composer pre-selects it.
