Surveys and polls
Ask up to ten questions by SMS or in the field app, with privacy-banded results.
Surveys let you listen to supporters through SMS and the field app. Open Messaging › Surveys.
Creating a survey#
- Enter a title and a reply keyword. People can text the keyword to start, for example
VOICE 1. STOP always takes precedence. - Set when it opens and closes (Nairobi time).
- Choose the identity mode: anonymous, or masked identity (answers linked to the person record, still masked).
- Optionally set a reminder after a number of hours, and a response quota.
- Add up to 10 questions. Each has a prompt, a type and, for choice questions, one choice per line as
code|label. You can apply a tag based on an answer, and skip ahead when a particular answer is given. - Optionally offer it in Sauti Field to paired volunteers. Field answers are anonymous and work offline.
Launching#
Launch a survey from the composer: in step 1 of Sending a campaign, choose the survey. It goes through the same approvals, wallet and suppression path as any send.
Results#
Results are kept apart from contact values. Small result groups are hidden so that no individual's answer can be identified. Use answers in audiences (answered, not answered, completed) and to apply tags.
Good practice#
- Keep questions short and answer codes simple (1, 2, 3).
- Explain why you are asking in the first message.
- Do not ask for sensitive personal data such as ethnicity, religion or health.
